SAFECOM

SAFECOM, a communications program of the Department of Homeland Security's Office for Interoperability and Compatibility (OIC), with its Federal partners, provides research, development, testing and evaluation, guidance, tools, and templates on communications-related issues to local, tribal, state, and Federal emergency response agencies. OIC is managed by the Science and Technology Directorate.

HFN for HADR

The Naval Postgraduate School, the office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration (OASD-NII) and several industry leading vendors answered the call for disaster relief communications a few days after Hurricane Katrina devastated the US Gulf Coast. This team combined real world prior experience in disaster response communications activities with the most current technologies to wirelessly enable Bay St Louis and Waveland Mississippi—providing the ONLY means of voice and data communications in the region while awaiting additional government support.

Welcome to the International Crisis Information Network. This site is dedicated to the humanitarian relief, disaster preparedness and first responder. This is the first truly collaborative and interactive website created specifically for people who wish to share their personal experiences and information with the rest of the humanitarian community in a non-attributional manner.

The Hub

The Hub provides web-based "situation awareness sharing" among volunteers, first responders, government and non-government individuals who may otherwise be unable to collaborate.
The Hub is based around Mediawiki, the same technology powering Wikipedia, and provides an easily referenced, easy to use tool for tapping group knowledge to share essential and current information of a developing crisis situation. The Hub is not intended as the complete answer in situation awareness, just a common starting point for critical information.

FEMA Emergency Management Institute

This page provides a comprehensive list of training and education resources available from FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI). These resources are primarily targeted towards emergency management officials. EMI offers the mandatory National Incident Management System (NIMS) training, Incident Command System (ICS), National Response Plan (NRP), Disaster Basics, Continuity of Operations (COOP), and several other disaster preparedness courses. Members of the general public can benefit from some of the Independent Study(IS) courses offered through EMI.

DHS First Responders

The Department of Homeland Security is committed to helping first responders nation-wide by ensuring that emergency response professionals are prepared, equipped and trained for any situation, and by bringing together information and resources to prepare for and respond to a terrorist attack, natural disaster or other large-scale emergency.

CoE for Disaster Management & Humanitarian Assistance

The Center's mission is to promote effective civil-military management in international humanitarian assistance, disaster response and peacekeeping through education, training, research and information programs.
